Movement for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Liberia, MOPGEL

MOPGEL was established to join other equality movements around the world to break the conspiracy of silence surrounding discrimination and violence against women, children, disabled and youth.

Since independence over 159 years ago, adequate efforts have yet to be made in Liberia to address inequality and injustice that women and children face as part of their everyday lives. This is coupled with a lack of skills training centers for women, youth and disabled persons. As the result, these people are living in poverty. After 14 years of civil unrest, MOPGEL believes effort must be made to set-up development in these areas.

MOPGEL programs include: education, empowerment, health care, information technology, media, environment and sanitation, and HIV/AIDS and peace education.
