Promoting and Facilitating the Leadership of Women and Girls, Especially those Living with HIV, in All Aspects of the Response to HIV and AIDS
Engaging women and girls as meaningful participants in the global response to HIV and AIDS involves not only inviting us to the table, but recognizing and promoting the leadership of those most affected by gender disparities in the response as a means of addressing and resolving inequity. ATHENA therefore aims to promote and facilitate the leadership of women and girls, especially those living with HIV, in all aspects of the global response to HIV and AIDS. In working toward this goal, we have undertaken projects such as documenting women's leadership roles in national-level responses to HIV and AIDS, and facilitating the mentorship of promising young women leaders in the field.
