International Women's Day falls on March 8 this year, and National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is March 10. Both have been marked by grassroots movements and campaigns around the world in the past, to bring awareness to the issues facing women and have conversations about what individuals can do to advance equality. To celebrate these days, ATHENA is launching the #ATHENAw4w Campaign, and supporting the #PledgeForParity.
The #ATHENAw4w campaign is designed to ignite a wave of small interactions; a collective movement to reach out to women in our lives with a message of love, acceptance, and encouragement. This is grounded in ATHENA's philosophy that small actions are stitched into the broader community fabric, tying the local to the global so that when you support women and girls to achieve their highest potential, you see the growth of the entire community. The campaign mirrors our Young Women's Leadership Initiative, a mentoring program for women living with HIV that has built platforms to raise the voices of young women in their communities and in national and international spaces, providing cross-generational mentorship and strategies to support meaningful engagement.
The #PledgeForParity campaign calls for a more equal world where women and girls can achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, and have more inclusive cultures that respect and value differences. ATHENA is reaching out to all of our supporters, thought partners, allies, and friends to make a pledge for parity in their communities by filling out the form below.
