As global civil society gathers in New York for the Civil Society Hearing preceding the High Level Meeting on HIV and AIDS, ATHENA has developed an advocacy call detailing the priorities for women's rights and gender equality which much be addressed by the High Level Meeting if its objectives are to be met. Women’s priorities for the Civil Society Hearing of the High Level Meeting on HIV: AIDS won’t end until women’s rights are upheld details our calls for an effective, inclusive and gender equal HIV response:
- Meaningful and sustained investment in women-led civil society
- A research agenda that is driven and led by women
- Gender equality, human rights and sexual and reproductive health and rights for ALL women in all our diversity
- Young women's leadership
- Comprehensive sexuality education and youth-friendly services
